Alliteration Abounds with Thomas and Friends

Alliteration is the repetition of the first consonant sound in words closely located word.  Thomas the Tank Engine is an example of alliteration.  The “T” sound in Thomas the Tank.  Thomas and many of his friends have been given names that use alliteration.  Edward Blue Engine, Toby the Tram Engine, Bertie the Bus, Bulstrode Barge, and Derek Diesel are a few examples of the Island of Sodor members that have alliteration in their names.

Alliteration is one of the literary terms that are studied when students are discussing poerty.
